Print Technique Selection

Closure Specification

Concealed zipper is the dominant retail closure for cushion covers. The zip must run 70–90% of the bottom seam width — a zip that is too short causes stress at the ends of the zip tape and early failure. Specify: zip colour (coordinating with the main fabric colour), zip type (nylon coil — not metal, which can leave marks on velvet or linen), and zip placement (bottom seam of the cover — never side seam for square cushion formats, as side placement makes insertion awkward). Order placement for A/W (which peaks October–January) should happen in April–May for Pakistan-sourced cushion covers — allowing 12–14 weeks for development, production and freight. Filling Compatibility and Cover Dimensions

For polyester fiberfill inserts, specify the cover 1–3 cm smaller in each dimension than the insert (e.g., a 47 cm cover for a 50 cm insert) — the compression creates a plump, well-filled appearance. For foam inserts, specify cover dimensions exactly equal to the insert (no compression). For feather/down inserts, specify the cover 2–4 cm smaller — down compresses more freely than polyester.
