What is the difference between anti-pill polar fleece and standard fleece?

Standard (non-anti-pill) fleece pills quickly with washing, which is visible and degrades product perception. Anti-pill treatment significantly extends the usable life of the blanket, making it the standard specification for retail, promotional and any programme where multiple wash cycles are expected. All fleece blankets supplied through MZ Global Trading are anti-pill as standard unless otherwise specified. Sherpa and jacquard constructions have inherently lower pilling tendency due to their structure.

Is GRS-certified recycled polyester fleece available?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified recycled polyester fleece is available for buyers with sustainability commitments, corporate ESG reporting requirements, or those supplying to retailers and brands with recycled content policies. GRS certification traces the recycled content claim through the entire supply chain from post-consumer plastic (typically PET bottles) through fibre, yarn, fabric and finished blanket. The performance characteristics of GRS-certified recycled fleece are equivalent to virgin polyester fleece at the same GSM. Lead times for GRS-certified programmes are comparable to standard production. Recycled content percentage (typically 70–100% post-consumer recycled) can be specified in your RFQ.

Can all-over sublimation print be applied to fleece blankets?

Accepted Answer

All-over sublimation printing is available on polyester fleece and mink touch/velvet constructions — these are the primary substrates for photographic-quality all-over print. Sublimation dye is transferred under heat and pressure into the polyester fibre, producing vibrant, wash-fast imagery without hand feel or texture change. This construction is widely used for promotional merchandise, corporate gifting, custom photo blankets and branded product programmes. Sherpa fleece (reverse polyester) can accept sublimation on the flat face. 100% cotton constructions cannot accept sublimation — reactive printing applies to cotton. Include print file requirements in your RFQ.

What GSM is recommended for retail fleece programmes?

Accepted Answer

200 GSM anti-pill polar fleece is the volume standard for retail programmes across USA, UK and EU — it delivers the warmth-to-weight ratio and softness consumers expect at mainstream price points. 250–280 GSM is used for premium positioned product and A/W seasonal gifting. 300 GSM is the heavy luxury tier — bedding-weight fleece with substantial hand feel. Baby and infant programmes often specify 150–180 GSM for reduced weight. Throws and lap blankets sold alongside furniture or homewares typically run at 180–220 GSM. The correct GSM depends on retail positioning and price-point — include your target retail price and channel in the RFQ for our recommendation.

Question 5

Can fleece blankets be produced with Flame Retardant (FR) treatment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. FR treatment is available for institutional and emergency management programmes — airline blankets, emergency response blankets, aged-care facilities and any programme governed by fire safety regulations. FR-treated fleece must meet relevant standards: BS 5867 for UK furnishing textiles, NFPA 701 for USA performance requirements, or EN 13501 as applicable. The FR treatment specification must be declared at quotation stage as it affects factory selection, finishing chemistry and cost. Buyers should confirm which regulatory standard applies to their end market. FR treatment adds to production cost and lead time. OEKO-TEX certification does not cover all FR chemical formulations — discuss compatibility requirements in your RFQ.

What sizes are available for retail fleece blanket programmes?

Accepted Answer

Standard sizes for retail programmes are: Baby/Cot 75×100 cm for infant and nursery products; Throw 125×150 cm for sofa throw and lap blanket retail; Single 150×200 cm for single bed use; Double 200×200 cm for double bed or couples; King 240×220 cm for king bed premium retail. Custom dimensions are available for brand-specific programmes, airline blanket sizes, promotional merchandise formats and non-standard retail configurations. A ±2 cm manufacturing tolerance applies. Custom widths and panel sizes for promotional merchandise should be specified with artwork requirements.

Are embroidered logo fleece blankets available for corporate programmes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Embroidered logo placement is available on polar fleece, sherpa and jacquard constructions — typically at corner, centre bottom or chest placement. Fleece accepts embroidery well at 4,000–8,000 stitch count placements; dense fills on very lightweight fleece (under 180 GSM) may pucker and should be tested on pre-production sample. We manage embroidery artwork digitisation and stitch placement approval. For corporate gifting programmes, we can combine embroidery with retail box or zippered carry bag presentation. Include your artwork file (AI or EPS preferred) and stitch placement specification in the RFQ.

What is the indicative lead time for fleece blanket programmes?

Accepted Answer

RFQ response and quotation: 3–5 business days. Sample production: 12–18 days from specification and artwork confirmation. Bulk production: 35–55 days from purchase order — sublimation print programmes may require 5–10 additional days for print setup. Sea freight transit adds 18–30 days to USA, 8–14 days to UK, 20–35 days to Australia. For seasonal retail programmes with fixed in-store dates, plan minimum 90–100 days from order placement to store. All timelines are indicative only and subject to factory capacity and material availability.
