Sourcing Baby Overalls from Pakistan: OEKO-TEX Certified Fabric & Custom Sizing

A sourcing guide for baby overalls from Pakistan — snap safety specification, strap construction, fabric selection by application, size range and certification requirements for EU, UK, USA and Australian baby product buyers.

Baby overalls from Pakistan are the most specification-intensive item in the baby apparel category — four interdependent safety decisions must be resolved before sampling begins: snap fastener diameter (minimum 18 mm for under-36-month use, with 90N pull test compliance), strap construction (H-back or crossed-back, with adjustment hardware confirmed nickel-free under EU Nickel Directive EN 1811), fabric OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1 certification, and crotch seam allowance for diaper accommodation (typically 2–3 cm above standard trouser measurement). Pakistan produces baby overalls in denim (220–300 GSM, 100% cotton), cotton jersey interlock (180–220 GSM), corduroy (200–280 GSM) and canvas (240–320 GSM), with size range typically 0–3M through 3T and GOTS organic certification available for cotton and corduroy constructions.

Step 1 — Snap Fastener Specification

All snap fasteners on baby overalls must meet physical safety requirements. Minimum snap diameter: 18 mm for products intended for children under 36 months (to reduce choking risk if snaps detach). Pull test: minimum 90N without separation (EN 71-3 / ASTM F963 standard). Material: nickel-free (EU Nickel Directive EN 1811) — mandatory for all EU and UK market garments. Specify nickel-free in the purchase order and require documentary confirmation.

Step 2 — Strap Construction

H-back straps: two parallel straps from front bib to back waistband — most common; simple adjustment. Crossed-back straps: straps cross at the back — prevents slipping from small shoulders on infant sizes. Adjustment: button hole adjustment (visible button on strap) or hidden slider buckle. Strap width: 2.5–3.5 cm for infant sizes to distribute weight evenly. Specify whether adjustment hardware is metal or plastic and confirm nickel-free for EU market.

Step 3 — Fabric Selection

Step 4 — Size Range and Diaper Allowance

Baby overalls require additional ease at the crotch for diaper accommodation. Standard size range: 0–3M, 3–6M, 6–9M, 9–12M, 12–18M, 18–24M, 2T, 3T. Crotch seam allowance: add 2–3 cm above standard trouser crotch measurement for diaper clearance. Specify a reference diaper brand and size in the fit standard if ordering for a specific market.

Step 5 — Certification and Market Compliance

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1 mandatory for all baby overalls. GOTS for any organic cotton claim. Nickel-free hardware documented by test report. Button and snap pull test report at PP stage. For USA: CPSIA compliance documentation. For EU: EN 14682 cord safety (no cords in neck/hood area), EN 71-3 migration test for all components. Specify certification requirements in the sourcing quote form.
